Privacy
This is a study site for the Qur'an. It is not funded by advertising, it sells nothing, and it has no interest in following anyone around. What follows is the whole of what it keeps.
If you never sign in
Nothing about you is stored on the server. The settings you choose in the Display panel are kept by your own browser, on your own device, and the site never receives them. There is no account, no profile and no record that you were here beyond the ordinary server log described below.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional, and everything on this site is readable without it. It exists for one purpose: so the page opens the way you like it on whatever device you are reading from.
When you sign in, this site stores:
- An identifier Google gives us for your account. It is a number that means nothing anywhere else, and it is what your settings are attached to.
- Your email address and your name, as Google reports them. The address is how the site recognises you if you sign in again; the name is used to say hello and to draw your initials in the corner.
- The display settings you have changed from the site's own defaults -- which translation you want, how large the Arabic is, and so on. Only what you actually changed is stored.
- Any notes you write, exactly as you typed them, with the verse or surah each one is about and the date you wrote it. They are yours: they are shown to nobody else, they are never read for anything, and deleting one deletes it.
- The date you first signed in, and the date you last did.
What is never stored
- No password. Google confirms who you are and this site never sees, receives or keeps a password of yours.
- No reading history. Which surahs you open, what you search for, how long you stay and what you copy are not recorded against you or against anyone.
- No profile picture. Your initials are drawn from your name instead, so that no image is ever fetched from Google while you read.
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. There is no Google Analytics on this site and no advertising network. The only cookie set is the one that keeps you signed in.
Who it is shared with
Nobody. Nothing here is sold, rented, traded or handed to a third party for their own purposes. The site is run by one person and the data sits in one database on one server.
Server logs
Like every web server, this one records requests it serves -- the address asked for, the time, and the network address it came from -- so that faults can be diagnosed and abuse stopped. These are ordinary operational records, kept briefly and not joined up with accounts.
Deleting your account
Write to abbaspeera@gmail.com and say so, and the account and every setting attached to it will be deleted. You do not have to give a reason. You can also simply stop signing in: what is held is what is listed above and nothing accumulates while you are away.
Changes
If what is kept ever changes, this page changes with it. It is the single description of what this site holds, and it is meant to stay short enough to read in full.
