From 1st to 6th AH, the Muslims were constantly under attack from the polytheists of Mecca. Finally, in the year 6 AH, Prophet Muḥammad made a peace treaty with the polytheists of Mecca. This created a safe and secure environment in Arabia for the Prophet to propagate Islam: by the 9th year, most parts of the Arabian Peninsula had accepted Islam.
This chapter was revealed after the peace treaty, which Allāh has described as a “victory.” It was also a good-tiding for the Prophet about the conquest of Mecca.
