We will recite to you some parts from the story of Mūsa and Fir‘awn truthfully for the people who believe in you in Mecca. The story of the Israelites under Fir‘awn will help boost the morale of the few people who have accepted Islam in Mecca and are, consequently, being persecuted by the aristocracy of that city; and it will also give hope of Allāh’s help in releasing oneself from the oppressors.S. Surely Fir‘awn behaved arrogantly in the land of Egypt and divided its people into groups: the Egyptian as masters and the Israelites as slaves. He oppressed one of the groups (i.e., the Israelites) by killing their sons and sparing their women. He surely was one of the mischief- makers.S. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)
Indeed Pharaoh tyrannized over the land, reducing its people to factions, abasing one group of them, slaughtering their sons, and sparing their women. Indeed, He was one of the agents of corruption.Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters.Saheeh International

In such circumstances, Mūsa’s mother became pregnant and gave birth to him. She feared for her newborn child. And, therefore, We revealed to Mūsā’s mother, saying, “Suckle him; and when you fear for him that be discovered, cast him into the river, and do and do not fear or feel sorrow for him—We shall surely return him to you, and We shall appoint him as one of the Messengers.”S. Mūsa’s mother placed him in a box and cast it into the river. The box flowed close to the palace grounds where the servants spotted it, who then brought it ashore and lo! there was a baby boy in it. Fir‘awn’s family found him and suspected the child to be an enemy and a cause of grief for them. Fir‘awn, Hãmãn and their armies were surely wrong in their plot to kill all first-born male Israelite children!S. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)

Once Fir‘awn’s wife took charge of the infant, her first thought was to find a nurse to suckle him. But We ordained that he would refuse from before to be suckled by any foster mother. Many wet-nurses tried without success in suckling Mūsa. Finally, Mūsa’s sister said, “Shall I direct you to a household whose members would take charge of him for you, and they will be his well-wishers?”S. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)

The palace of Fir‘awn was away from the city. One day Mūsa decided to go to the city by himself and he entered the city while its people were unaware (i.e., they were resting in their homes in the afternoon or at night), he found two persons fighting each other: one was from his party (i.e., an Israelite) and the other was from his enemies (i.e., an Egyptian). When the person who was of his party saw Mūsa, he cried out to him for help against the person who was of his enemies. So Mūsa struck him with his fist and, thereby, caused his death. When Mūsa realized that he had accidentally caused that person’s death, he said, “This quarrel between these two persons is Shaytãn’s doing; he is surely an obvious enemy and one who misleads.”S. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)
[One day] he entered the city at a time when its people were not likely to take notice. He found there two men fighting, this one from among his followers, and that one from his enemies. The one who was from his followers sought his help against him who was from his enemies. So Moses hit him with his fist, whereupon he expired. He said, ‘This is of Satan’s doing.
