O Prophet, when you intend to divorce women, then: (1) Divorce them at their ‘iddah time (i.e., when they are free from their monthly cycle). (2) And calculate the ‘iddah (waiting) time, so there is no confusion about its three-month duration in which special rules apply for both.(3) And fear displeasing Allāh, your Lord, infulfilling your duties: neither should you turn them out of their homes during the ‘iddah nor should they go out. The divorced wives have the right to stay in their husbands’ homes during theiddah except if they commit gross indecency. Remember that these are Allāh’s appointed limits, and whoever transgresses the limits of Allāh has indeed harmed himself by making himself liable for punishment. The waiting period (‘iddah) is for three months, and the wife has the right to stay in the husband’s home for that duration because you do not know, perhaps Allāh will bring something new later on in the hearts of both and they might reconcile before the expiry of the ‘iddah, or they may find out that she is pregnant.S. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)
O Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at [the conclusion of] their term and calculate the term, and be wary of Allah, your Lord. Do not turn them out from their homes, nor shall they go out, unless they commit a gross indecency. These are Allah’s bounds, and whoever transgresses the bounds of Allah certainly wrongs himself. You never know maybe Allah will bring off something new later on.Ali Quli Qarai
O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allāh, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allāh has certainly wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allāh will bring about after that a [different] matter.Saheeh International

Once they have completed their term (i.e., ‘iddah), then either retain them honourably by or let them go honourably. There is no third option of keeping her suspended: neither divorced nor married!(4) When you do the divorce, make two just men of upright character from among yourselves as witnesses, and the witnesses should not hesitateto bear witness for the sake of Allāh. Whoever believes in Allāh and the Last Day is being advised by it. And whoever fears displeasing Allāh, He shall make a way out for him from his difficultiesS. M. Rizvi (Explanatory)
Then, when they have completed their term, either retain them honourably or separate from them honourably, and take the witness of two honest men from among yourselves, and bear witness for the sake of Allah. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day is advised to [comply with] this. Whoever is wary of Allah, He shall make for him a way out [of the adversities of the world and the Hereafter]Ali Quli Qarai
And when they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms. During the wives’ ‘iddah period, house them where you live, according to your means, and do not harass them to put them in straits. And if they are pregnant, then provide for them till childbirth.
